Synopsis
The Hand, is a short story about an unresolved incident that occurred at a state park.
The intent of the story is to remind us all to be careful, with whom we hang around and to never wager, that which we cannot afford to lose, under the facade of fun. But if we consciously decide to ignore this sound advice, then at least, prepare a plan, to deal with the consequences. Because the lack of planning, often leads to unforeseen consequences which can be deadly, as learned by two naïve men who found a very old curse and wielded it like a toy. Before knowing what had happened, they had lost their souls. In the anticipated seconds, surrounding midnight, the inquisitive fun turned fatal. Once the warmth of evil cloaked the friends like a wool sweater in spring, they knew, the time for regrets had passed and that only consequences remained, as a deadly teacher. Annual camping trips consistently confirms the hidden dangers that lies just beneath the twigs and leaves. As the evidence of ‘a loss wager’, patiently lay in wait, to reveal its true nature. |
